Nachdem im Juni 1932 die Auto Union AG<br />
gegründet worden war, wurde der Marke<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> innerhalb des neuen Konzerns das<br />
Marktsegment der gehobenen Mittelklasse<br />
zugeordnet. Erstm<strong>als</strong> bediente man sich<br />
einer Art Baukastensystem: ein Zweiliter<br />
Wanderer Sechszylindermotor mit 40 PS,<br />
kombiniert mit dem bereits seit 1931 bei<br />
DKW erprobten Frontantrieb waren die tech-<br />
nischen Eckdaten des ersten Auto Union<br />
<strong>Audi</strong>, der im Frühjahr 1933 unter der<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> Front<br />

After the formation of Auto Union AG in June<br />
1932, the <strong>Audi</strong> brand was allotted the task<br />
within the new group of supplying cars to the<br />
upper midsize segment of the market. This<br />
was the first time that a form of modularelement<br />
production was adopted: the tech-<br />
nical specification for the first <strong>Audi</strong> intro-<br />
duced by Auto Union included a 40-bhp, six-<br />
cylinder, two-litre engine supplied by Wan-<br />
derer, which was combined with the front-<br />
wheel drive first developed by DKW in 1931.
