Rallyeweltmeisterschaft. Am langen <strong>Audi</strong><br />
Rallye quattro fanden sich neuerdings Karosserieteile<br />
aus Kevlar, Aluminium-Motoren,<br />
Reifen eines neuen Lieferanten und anderes<br />
mehr. In der laufenden Saison schob <strong>Audi</strong> ein<br />
weiteres Evolutionsmodell nach, dessen geänderter<br />
Hubraum die Homologation in der<br />
Klasse bis 960 kg Fahrzeuggewicht ermöglichte.<br />
Mit lediglich zwei Punkten Differenz<br />
belegte <strong>Audi</strong> in der Markenweltmeisterschaft<br />
in diesem Jahr den zweiten Platz.<br />

Group B category contended for the world<br />
rally championship. The regular-wheelbase<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> Rallye quattro was given Kevlar body<br />
panels, an aluminium engine block, tyres<br />
from a new supplier and various other new<br />
features as well. While the rallying season<br />
was still in progress, <strong>Audi</strong> introduced an evo-<br />
lutionary version with an engine with modified<br />
displacement that permitted the car to<br />
be homologated in the up to 960 kg weight<br />
category. <strong>Audi</strong> was runner-up in that year’s<br />
constructor’s world championship, with a<br />
shortfall of only two points.
