ihrer marke gegen Billigimitate. in ihrem
Cologne“.
With the industrial revolution came the automated
production of scented products. new chemical
processes facilitated a more cost-effective production.
What used to be an exclusive creation became an
item of mass production. Customers’ preferences have
changed. nowadays, eau de Cologne is struggling to
overcome its image as a “scent for old ladies”. the
creator of the fragrance, the Farina family, have been
battling for many years to set their brand apart from
cheap imitations. at their museum and during costume
showcases they promote the quality of their product
and the merits of the house. at the company’s
business premises, which were rebuilt after
having been destroyed during the war, the
efforts focus today just as for hundreds of years
before on sensitising lovers of sophisticated
pleasant aromas to the bottles with the red
tulip logo being synonymous with an exquisite
fragrance that is “made in Cologne”.
