In Rom wurde der lutherisch getaufte Georg Friedrich Händel von verschiedenen
Geistlichen der römisch-katholischen Kirche umworben. Für sie schrieb der Komponist
Werke im Geist der katholischen Tradition, ohne zum Katholizismus zu
konvertieren. Das Bozen Baroque Ensemble hat in den letzten Jahren das Renommee
eines internationalen Ausnahme-Ensembles gewonnen. Mit Claudio
Astronio steht dem Ensemble ein begnadeter Organist, virtuoser Cembalist und
charismatischer Dirigent vor. Für das Debüt in Halle wirkt als Solistin Gemma
Bertagnolli mit, die derzeit als eine der Referenz-Interpretinnen ihrer Generation
für die italienische Barockmusik angesehen wird. So wundert es nicht, dass die
Sopranistin bereits mit einer Vielzahl bedeutender Musiker und Dirigenten wie
René Jacobs, Trevor Pinnock und Marc Minkowski, aber auch mit Pultgrößen wie
Zubin Mehta und Riccardo Muti erfolgreich zusammengearbeitet hat. In ihrer
Karriere trat die Sängerin in den weltweit bedeutenden Theatern und Konzertsälen
auf.
In Rome, the Lutheran-christened George Frideric Handel was courted by a
variety of clerics of the Roman-Catholic church. For them, the composer
wrote works in the spirit of Catholicism without ever converting. In recent
years, the Bozen Baroque Ensemble has won the reputation of being an ensemble
of special distinction on the international music scene. They are led
by a brilliant organist, virtuoso harpsichord player and charismatic conductor
in the shape of Claudio Astronio. For their debut in Halle, they will be joined
by soloist Gemma Bertagnolli, who is regarded as a reference among her
generation for her interpretations of Italian Baroque music. Little wonder,
then, that the has already worked with a slew of important musicians and
conductors, including René Jacobs, Trevor Pinnock and Marc Minkowski, as
well as other great names such as Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti. During
the course of her career, the singer has performed in all the major theatres
and concert halls worldwide.
