Konzertchor wandte er sich konsequent der historischen Aufführungspraxis Alter
Musik zu. Seit 2007 setzt Hans-Christoph Rademann als künstlerischer Leiter
neue Akzente in der Entwicklung des Chorklanges und des Repertoires.
“I felt as if I had nothing more of this brutal world about me, I seemed to be
nothing but soul – nothing but spirit!”, the English novelist and actress Eliza
Haywood enthused in her Epistles for the Ladies, published in 1749, moved to
divine ecstasy by one of the numerous performances of Joshua. Indeed, Handel
achieved one of his greatest popular successes ever with this work. In the
1990s, the RIAS Chamber Choir and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin created
a sensation all over Germany with their joint performances of a number of Handel’s
oratorios. Both ensembles rank among the very best of their kind and their
numerous CDs have won numerous major awards thanks to their great artistic
quality. The choir’s artistic profile is unequalled anywhere in the world: as the
number one professional concert choir, it has devoted itself exclusively to the
historically informed performance of ancient music. Since 2007, its new artistic
director Hans-Christoph Rademann has introduced new emphasis in the choir’s
sound and repertoire.
