MagisternebenfachFrauen- & Geschlechterstudien58Thema: SPEAKING ENGLISH – at Social SienceConferences, During Interships and Study TripsVeranstalterin: Lydia PottsZeit: Freitag, 8 - 10 UhrOrt: A6 5-531The aim of this seminar is to encourage and enable students to converse in English in academicor institutional environments.We will practice how to- introduce oneself, including one’s research and/or work interests and experiences,- explain German society and the political system,- ask questions and participate in discussions,- write professional CV’s and abstracts/summaries.All texts (e.g., on the German welfare state, social policy, political and educational systems,etc.) as well as other materials (e.g., TV documentaries) will be in English.As the focus of this seminar will be on speaking, the number of participants is limited totwenty-five. Students will be required to prepare themselves for each session either by readinga recommended text or submitting a short written piece (CV, abstract, etc.).Fachbereich 3
