Intangible Design –
A Proposal how to translate Brand
Essence into Product Design
Differentiation is key for a design company
in today’s overstuffed market. To entrench
a salient brand, coherence throughout the
four tangible vectors – product, environment,
communication, and behaviour – is
crucial. This thesis focuses on how to infuse
not only visual elements of a brand identity,
but also emotional aspects into a product.
Avoiding the last mile problem
in taking a service-centered view
during product development for
people at the BoP.
There are products developed for people at
the BOP (bottom of the economic pyramid)
that follow principles set up to serve the
BOP market effectively. However, these
products are often not used. This problematic
is called ‹the last mile problem› and
points to the need to think beyond the product.
A service-centered view provides just
that; it sees products as only intermediary
steps and as platforms for delivering services,
thus not as an end in itself.
How to create a team culture in
virtual teams that enhances
creativity using design management
approaches.
Responding to increasing globalization,
many organizations have introduced virtual
teams as they allow hiring the best suitable
people regardless of their location. Establishing
a team culture that enhances
creativity has proven to be difficult as traditional
approaches may often not be viable
in a virtual context. The thesis explores
whether design management approaches
may support virtual teams to create a culture
that truly enhances creativity.
Exhibition Design –
creating Visitor Experience
Trade shows are an important branding
tool, which showcase new products and innovations
in a specific industry. It is a way
to promote the company but also to communicate
a story and concept in a three-dimensional
space to the customer.
This thesis focuses on how trade fair design
can become a more effective tool by connecting
with the needs of potential users to
reshape both the visitor’s experience and
the company’s perspective on exhibition
design.
