Human-centred Design for
Architecture – A concept to incorporate
the Human Factor into the
Architectural Process
‹First we shape our buildings, then they
shape us.› Churchill’s notorious quote indicates
the influence architecture has. Many
buildings are created without investigating
user needs, which results in dissatisfaction
and extra costs. This thesis suggests efficient
user involvement in the architectural
design process through human-centred design
aiming to generate value-adding solutions
for all parties.

The aim of the thesis is to create a toolkit
with design methods to facilitate the concept
development phase of visual identities
for newcomer bands and to define a design
language in collaboration with different
stakeholders, such as existing fans and potential
fans. This visual identity concept
implies what the band stands for and how it
is understood by its target audience.

The Impact of coworking
Spaces on the creation of
nascent Ventures
Good entrepreneurial ideas are readily
available while supportive structures fostering
them are missing. Therefore, this
paper is concerned with the concept of
Coworking Spaces, addressing this issue by
offering an affordable, flexible working environment,
which facilitates the establishment
of social and professional networks.
From there, this thesis aims to outline how
Coworking Spaces support entrepreneurs
in the process of their new venture creation.

measure activities has been highly debated.
Interpreting performance data and diagnosing
underlying causes of performance
problems is key to ensure that future investments
are not wasted but actually contribute
to business success. This thesis attempts
to investigate the role and value of
design and design management in the context
of interpreting business performance
measurement data. Combining attitudes,
approaches, tools and methods of management
and design to formulate better informed
problem statements is the aim of
this thesis.
