Unverkennbar stand eine
voll erblühte Rose Pate
für die zauberhafte Dose.
It was undeniably a rose in
full bloom that served as
the model for this enchanting
box.
The Queen of Flowers has a long tradition in porcelain art from
MEISSEN ® primarily on account of her incomparable beauty. She
has been coaxing masterful decorative schemes out of porcelain
painters ever since the palette of overglaze colours was significantly
expanded at the Manufactory in the late 1720s. One of the
best-known and most successful was the Biedermeier “Meissen
Rose” pattern. It was a beautiful specimen in full bloom that served as
a model for this delightful little box, a piece that unites the two great
Meissen Manufactory skills: painting and modelling. Since the eighteenth
century, MEISSEN ® artists have constantly been sourcing the
abundance of Nature to fashion consummate porcelain objects in
the shape of vegetables, fruit and flowers. Our little box unfolds its
magic petal by petal just like its royal counterpart, most intricately
brushed on to look every bit as beautiful as it ever could in Nature:
in shades of red, it goes without saying, since these are what turn
the rose into a symbol of everlasting love that will never wither away
when applied to MEISSEN PORCELAIN ® .
