Er hat mehr als Musik hinterlassen: Wer aufmerksam
hinsieht, findet vielfältige Telemann-Spuren.
Was bleibt von einem Komponisten wie zum Beispiel Georg
Philipp Telemann? Seine Musik, keine Frage. Was kommt
Neues hinzu? Aufnahmen, Einspielungen und: Bei jeder
Aufführung eines seiner Werke der einmalige Moment einer
Flüchtigkeit, wie sie der Musik nun einmal innewohnt, die
aber doch Bleibendes hinterlässt. Eindrücke, Gefühle, Klänge
im Ohr und Bilder im Kopf. Ansonsten nichts Neues?
Aber ja, Straßen und Plätze werden nach dem Komponisten
benannt, Musikschulen auch, nicht zuletzt natürlich,
ganz frisch, ein Städtenetzwerk zu seinem 250. Todestag. In
Magdeburg gibt es ein – weltweit einzigartiges – Zentrum für
Telemann-Pflege und -Forschung, einen Arbeitskreis »Georg
Philipp Telemann« e.V. und hier hat auch die Internationale
Telemann-Gesellschaft ihren Sitz. Frankfurt und Hamburg

What remains of a composer such as Georg Philipp Telemann,
for example? His music, without question. What new items
can be added? Recordings, documentations, and, every time
one of his works is performed, the unique moment of transience
inherent in music: despite its fleetingness, it leaves
lasting impressions. Impressions, feelings, sounds in our mind
and images before our inner eye. Is there nothing new apart
from this?
But of course: streets and squares are named for the composer,
music schools too, and not least, this just in, a network
of cities dedicated to commemorating the 250th anniversary
of his death. In Magdeburg there is a Telemann Centre – the
only one of its kind worldwide – dedicated to promoting and
