anderer Kulturen auseinanderzusetzen. Mit der
aktiven Beschäftigung des Ausstellungsmaterials
kommt es zu einer Veränderung ihrer Perspektiven
und Wahrnehmungen.
Die Reihe „Stadtansichten“ thematisierte die Veränderungen
in den Städten des 0. und . Jahrhunderts.
Die Ausstellung „Die Welt wird Stadt“ ging der
Frage nach, welche Effekte der dynamische Prozess
einer globalen Verstädterung mit Blick auf Europa,
Asien, Afrika oder Lateinamerika mit sich bringt und
wie diese unsere künftigen Lebenswelten betreffen.
In der Reihe „Schauplatz Natur“ wird die Rezeption,
Analogiebildung und künstlerische Auseinandersetzung
mit dem Naturbegriff thematisiert. So zeigt
die Ausstellung „Post-Oil-City – Die Stadt nach dem
Öl“, die noch bis zum 0. März 0 0 in Stuttgart
zu sehen ist, Lösungen für urbane Problemstellungen
nach dem Ende fossiler Brennstoffe.
Unter dem Reihentitel „Spot on …“ werden Einblicke
in herausragende kulturelle Veranstaltungen und Biennalen
anderer Kontinente gewährt. Lag in den vergangenen
zwei Jahren der Fokus auf zeitgenössischer
afrikanischer Kunst, wird in diesem Jahr die lateinamerikanische
Mercosul-Biennale im brasilianischen
Porto Alegre in den Blick gerückt. In Weiterführung
des bisher vorgestellten Programms ist für Winter
0 0/ die erste Ausstellung der Reihe „Kulturtransfers“
konzipiert, die unter dem Titel „Another
The series of “cityscapes” deals with the changes in
cities during the 0th and st century. The exhibition
“World becomes City” addressed the question
of how the dynamic process of global urbanisation
is affecting Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America,
and how this may change the world we will live in in
the future. The series “On Stage: Nature” deals with
the reception, the structural analogies and the artistic
treatment of the concept of nature. The exhibition
“Post-Oil City” which will run to the 0th of March
0 0 in Stuttgart offers solutions to the urban problems
we will face once we have exhausted the supply
of fossil fuels.
The series entitled “Spot on …” offers an inside view
into the outstanding events and biennales of other
continents. Whereas in the past two years the focus
lay upon contemporary African art, this year the focus
is on the Latin American Mercosul Biennale in
the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre. In a continuation of
an already initiated programme, the first exhibition
in the series of “Cultural Transfers” is scheduled for
the winter of 0 0/ ; entitled “Another Country”,
it will deal with the encounters and flow of cultural
transfer as well as with the transnational migration
of motifs. The larger framework of the exhibition is
geared towards communicating various forms, content
and strategies of cultural transfer.

Country“ Begegnungen und Ströme von Kulturtransfers
und transnationalen Motivwanderungen thematisiert.
Die Vermittlung von verschiedenen Formen,
Inhalten und Strategien kultureller Transferleistungen
bildet den übergeordneten Rahmen der Schau.
„connect:“ heißt die neue Ausstellungsreihe der
ifa-Galerie in Berlin. Unter dem Titel der aktuellen
Schau „Kunstszene Vietnam“ werden bis Anfang
April 0 0 die für das europäische Publikum
bisher unbekannten internationalen, regionalen oder
auch lokalen Kunstszenen anhand von Arbeiten elf
junger zeitgenössischer Künstlerinnen und Künstler
aus Hanoi und Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt vorgestellt. Mit
dabei Tran Luong, Gründer des Contemporary Art
Centre in Hanoi, das er bis Ende 00 leitete. Die
Notwendigkeit der Vermittlungsarbeit wird anhand
seiner Arbeit besonders deutlich: Im Jahr 007 zeigte
die Ausstellung „come in“ in Zusammenarbeit der
Abteilung Kunst des ifa- und des Goethe-Instituts in
Hanoi seine Arbeit „Hidden Beauty – Verborgenen
Schönheit“. Schon nach einem Tag wurde von staatlicher
Seite veranlasst, die Arbeit abzubauen. Das
Objekt, das zugleich eine überdimensionale Windel
und gepolsterter Rückzugsraum ist, besteht aus unzähligen
zusammengenähten Militäruniformtaschen.
Das Werk ging danach in den Besitz eines Schweizer
Sammlers über und ist jetzt erstmalig wieder in der
ifa-Galerie Berlin zu sehen. Die momentane Ausstel-
“connect:” is the title of the new exhibition series at
the ifa Gallery in Berlin. The current exhibition in
this series, “Art Scene Vietnam” (open to the beginning
of April 0 0) offers the European public an
overview of hitherto unknown international, regional
or local art scenes in the form of eleven young contemporary
artists from Hanoi and Ho-Chi-Minh City
– among them Tran Luong, founder of the Contemporary
Art Centre in Hanoi, which he directed until
the end of 00 . The need for such communication
is particularly apparent in his work. In 007 the exhibition
“come in” – a cooperation between the art
department at ifa and the Goethe Institute in Hanoi
– exhibited Tran Luong’s “Hidden Beauty”. But after
just one day the state authorities demanded its removal.
The object – both an oversized diaper and simultaneously
a cushiony resting place – was made of
countless pieces of cloth from military uniform bags
sewn together. The work was later bought by a Swiss
collector and it is currently being exhibited for the
first time at the ifa Gallery in Berlin. The current exhibition
“connect: Art Scene Vietnam” at the ifa Gallery
in Berlin is complemented by the youth art project
“INvite” (“einLaden”) dealing with the themes
of Vietnamese labourers and boatpeople. During the
presentation of this project the gallery will be hosting
a large party for its participants and its guests on the
9th of March.
