«Velofahren» gehört zur Schweiz wie die Berge
und ist ein sehr beliebter Freizeitsport. Das
Urserntal zählt dabei zu den Bike-Hotspots.
«Die Ferienregion Andermatt mit den acht
Alpenpässen investiert kräftig in den Unterhalt
und die Neuanlage von Bikerouten», sagt der
Fachmann Leo Püntener. Anlässe wie das
Alpenbrevet oder das Bikefestival Andermatt
ziehen viel Publikum an. Und machen Lust,
selber in die Pedale zu treten.
Im Trend liegt das E-Mountainbike: Dank den
mit Akkus ausgerüsteten Bikes sind mehrstündige
Touren konditionell für jedermann machbar
und besonders gesund, da man im optimalen
Pulsbereich fährt. Mit individueller Akku-Unterstützung
wird auf einer Tour niemand benachteiligt.
Leo Püntener ist sicher: «Schon bald wird
man in den Bergen mit einem konventionellen
Bike zur Minderheit gehören.» Natürlich sollten
E-Biker ihre technischen Fähigkeiten richtig
einschätzen oder sich beim ersten Mal einer
geführten Gruppe anschliessen.
«E-Mountainbikes machen
längere Touren für alle zum
Vergnügen.»
“Electric mountain bikes
make the longer tours
enjoyable for everyone.”
Auch die Ferienorte sind gefordert, indem sie
etwa spezielle Trails schaffen.
Cycling is as much a part of Switzerland as the
mountains themselves and a hugely popular
recreational sport. The Ursern Valley in particular is
a great place for cycling. “The Andermatt tourist
region has eight alpine passes and there has been
substantial investment both in maintaining existing
bike routes and creating new ones,” says cycling
specialist Leo Püntener. Events such as the Alpenbrevet
and the Andermatt Bike Festival draw
crowds of spectators. And they motivate people to
hop on a bike themselves.
The electric mountain bike is the latest trend.
The bikes are equipped with batteries, so anyone
can complete tours lasting several hours and
it's a particularly healthy form of exercise as you are
exercising within the ideal pulse range. Individual
battery support means that no-one is at a
disadvantage. Leo Püntener has no doubt: “In the
mountains, traditional bikes will soon be in the
minority.” Of course, it remains important for e-bikers
to assess their ability accurately or to join an accompanied
group when setting out for the first time.
And the holiday regions need to think about creating
special trails. These should avoid stretches where
you need to push or carry the bike and should not
exceed the battery range of the bikes. “The cycling
trails around Andermatt can be easily combined
with public transport. This opens up four cantons,
cultures and languages in the high-alpine mountain
region,” explains Leo Püntener.
