Lernziel
This course provides a comprehensive analysis of economic principles to understand the
basic concepts of the national and world economies. It provides an examination of the macro
and microenvironment of business and organizations.
Microeconomics is devoted to the study of how consumers and firms make decisions at an
individual level (the „micro“ level).
Macroeconomics, on the other hand, asks questions at the aggregate level (the „macro“
level).
This course will introduce the concepts and tools used to study questions at both the micro
and macro levels. It will also examine how government policies and institutions affect
individual decisions and the macroeconomy.
Furthermore, it gives an introduction to economics policy (objectives of the German
„Stabilitätsgesetz“, employment, growth, inflation, balance of trade)
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Comprehend the relevance and importance of economics in our lives.
2. Apply some analytical and critical thinking tools used by economists.
3. Use verbal, graphical and simple algebraic tools to analyze macroeconomic issues.
