letztendlich die Schließung der betroffenen Kinos.
Mit vergleichsweise geringen Mitteln – etwa ab 20.000 € ohne Zuspielgeräte
– können Kinos so ausgestattet werden, dass sie den
meisten Ansprüchen nicht nur genügen, sondern noch zusätzliche
Vorteile haben. Je nach Saal- und Leinwandgröße reichen zum
Beispiel Projektoren mit einer Bildauflösung von 1K bis 2K aus, was
übrigens der Auflösung von professionellen Kameras für die Filmaufnahme
entspricht. In Verbindung mit einem kleiner dimensionierten
Filmserver und einem Scaler lassen sich flexibel Zuspielgeräte,
Übertragungskanäle oder Datenträger verschiedener Normen
und Standards anschließen, die der Vielfalt der digitalen Filmproduktion
gerecht werden. Dies könnten zum Beispiel sein: Filme auf nicht
DCI-genormten Digital Cinema Packages, in HD, auf DVD, Blu-Ray,
Festplatten, Laptops sowie Zuspielungen von Untertitelungen, Audiokommentaren
oder Hilfen für Hörgeschädigte und auch Filme
aus dem Internet, von Satelliten oder einfach von der Flashcard oder
einem USB-Stick. Dies ist sozusagen ein Quantensprung, der insbesondere
auch der Verbreitung des Kurzfilms zu Gute kommt.

it on a cinema screen. Likewise, a part of it was the chance that
more people than ever before would have public access – be that
in the cinemas or at training or cultural facilities – to the complete
range and diversity available in the film and media culture.
Desirable as it may be to have a uniform high standard, it is of
little use when it is not affordable. Of course everyone would
love to work with the best equipment. However if this cannot
be financed due to the conditions imposed, it would make more
sense to permit smaller-scale solutions in the sense of making exceptions
for cultural purposes. Otherwise all that remains is to be
excluded from the digitisation process and ultimately the closure
of the cinemas concerned.
At comparably lower costs – from about €20,000 without the
source equipment – cinemas can be equipped in such a way that
not only would they fulfil most of the requirements, they would
even have additional advantages. Depending on the auditorium
and screen size, projectors with an image resolution of 1 to 2K
are enough, which also corresponds to the resolution on professional
cameras for film shoots by the way. When this is linked to a
smaller film server and a scaler, source equipment, transmission
channels or data carriers in various different standards can be
flexibly connected to it, satisfying the wide diversity of digital film
productions. For instance these could be films in digital cinema
packages not at the DcI-Standard, in HD, on DVD, Blu-Ray, hard
disks or laptops as well as on equipment that feeds in subtitles,
sound commentaries or functions as aids for people with hearing
difficulties, as well as films from the internet, from satellites, or
simply from the flashcard or a uSB stick. This represents a quantum
leap so-to-speak that would also benefit the distribution of
short films especially.

wird aktuell über eine Entschärfung
der o.g. Kriterien für die Förderung
der digitalen Umrüstung diskutiert.
