Die Animationsfilmschmiede Pixar hat es konsequent durchgehalten:
Vor jedem Langfilm wird ein Kurzfilm präsentiert. Im Mai 2009
eröffnete der zehnte Pixarfilm UP die 62. Internationalen Filmfestspiele
in Cannes – erstmals in der Geschichte des Festivals in 3D.
Bevor es Missverständnisse gibt: 3D meint einen Raumbild-Film,
also dreidimensionale Bilder auf der Leinwand, die man mit Hilfe
der 3D-Brille sehen kann – auch stereoskopisches 3D oder kurz
S3D genannt. Gerade bei Animationsfilmen ist das Verwechslungspotential
hoch, beschreibt hier der Begriff 3D klassischerweise das
Erzeugen von Bildern im Rechner mit Hilfe eines Programms, mit
dem sich Objekte in Breite, Höhe und Tiefe gestalten, anordnen
und animieren lassen, also Computer Generated Images (CGI).
In Cannes präsentierte Pixar UP nicht nur gleichzeitig in CGI und
S3D, erstmals war auch ein Kurzfilm in stereoskopischem 3D zu
sehen. Man wollte nicht nur das technisch neue Format etablieren,
auch die Geschichte von PARTLY CLOUDY über Störche, die Menschen-
und Tierbabys von den Wolken auf die Erde bringen, bot erzählerische
Ansatzpunkte für S3D.

The animation film hotbed Pixar has remained consistent here:
Before each feature film the audience is treated to a short. In May
2009 the tenth Pixar film uP opened the 62nd cannes International
Film Festival – for the first time in the history of the festival
with a screening of a 3D film.
But before any misunderstandings arise: 3D means a stereoscopic
film (S3D), or in other words three-dimensional images on the
screen which can be viewed with the help of 3D glasses. With
animation films especially the potential for a mix-up is high, as
the 3D term here describes in a classic manner the generation of
images in a computer with the help of a program that structures,
orders and animates the objects in terms of their width, height
and depth (computer generated images or cGI).
not only did Pixar present its film uP in cGI and S3D at the same
time in cannes, but for the first time ever a short film in stereoscopic
3D was screened. Their aim here was not only to establish
the new technical format. The story in PARTLY cLOuDY of storks
