There was no
“CONFUSION, CONFUSION,
CONFUSION” about this kid’s fishing
tournament! All the kids and parents
had a great time. There was plenty
of fishing, plenty of food, and plenty
of prizes.
The 1 st Annual Tybee
“DAC” Kids Fishing Tournament
went off without a snag and with
several bites. The tournament was
held on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at
Tybee Island Marina. We had some exciting once in
a life time occurrences. Dr. Mare Timmons from
University of Georgia - Skidaway Marine Institute,
was on hand to kick-off the Captain’s meeting with
an array of interesting marine
animals. One being, a live
Star Fish that is not
indigenous to local waters,
which the kids could hold and
examine. After the goodie

out – the fishing began, which
brought in some very unusual
catches. Parker
Singletary
caught a 5½ - 6
lb. live king
conch, which
won Parker the
best fish story
trophy, and the
conch a trip to the aquarium at
Skidaway Institute. According to Dr.
Timmons, it is a big conch for this area.
The second best fish story went to Hunter
Jastrzab, who lost his fishing pole off the dock two
times, but was able to recover the pole both times.
Another interesting catch was
made by Dylan and Lindsey
Thomas, who brought in a live
sea robin which is also very
uncommon to this area.
