[Draft on Kiliaen van Rensselaer in favor of the skipper<br />

of the ship Coninck David]<br />

[4b] I, [the undersigned, Anthony de Hooges], hereby [acknowledge that this day, date<br />

underwritten, I] have [received from skipper Jop Arentsen], dry and in good condition, all the<br />

goods shipped by Mr. Kiliaen van Rensselaer in [the ship Coninck] Davit, for the freight of<br />

which there shall be paid by the said Mr. [Rensselaer] to the above named Jop Arentsen the sum<br />

of [eight?] hundred and sixty-eight guilders, according to the bill of lading signed by the above<br />

named Jop Arentsen. The aforesaid Mr. Renselaer shall pay for the board of Antony de Hogens,<br />

Jan [Ver]beeck, his wife, child and maid, Geertjen Nannex, her son and little daughter, Lucas<br />

Smits from Coerlant 10 and Jan Tenessen what is due to the skipper, to wit, for the ten above<br />

mentioned persons, each one hundred and twenty-six days, from the 23rd of July 1641, when<br />

they came on board the ship, to the 29th of November last, when they landed at the Manhatans in<br />

New Netherland, at 7 stivers each per day, amounting in all to four hundred and forty-one<br />

guilders, and thirty-three guilders for freight of the chests of the people, according to<br />

Lincklaer’s 11 signature. All this without fraud. In testimony whereof this is signed by Antony de<br />

Hooge and the witnesses hereto invited. Done in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland, the 7th of<br />

January 1642.<br />

[5] [This day, date under]written, [before me, Cornelis van] Tienhoven, secretary [in New<br />

Netherland for the General Chartered West India Company], appeared Everardus Bogardus,<br />

minister here, who in the presence of the undersigned witnesses appointed and empowered, as he<br />

hereby does appoint and empower, the Hon. Mr. Wouter van Twiller, late director general of<br />

New Netherland, in his name and on his behalf to collect, demand and receive from Mr. Jacob<br />

van Curler the sum of three hundred and sixty-three Carolus guilders, as appears from the<br />
