[Note of Frederick Lubbertsen to Hendrick Arentsen for sugar]<br />

[149f] Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Fredrick<br />

Lubbersen, inhabitant here, who acknowledges that he is well and truly indebted to Hendrick<br />

Arentsen in the sum of six hundred and sixty-three guilders, arising from the purchase of sugar<br />

which the above mentioned Fredrick Lubbersen received into his possession before the execution<br />

hereof. Fredrick Lubbersen promises to pay the aforesaid sum to the said Hendrick Arentsz, or<br />

his order, free of costs and charges, without exception, in nine months from date, being the 20th<br />

of June 1647, and that in good, whole, merchantable beavers, as two referees shall judge proper.<br />

All of which the purchaser has signed in the record, in the presence of the undersigned witnesses,<br />

the 20th of September 1646, at the Manhatans in New Netherland.<br />

[149g] Inventory taken at the house of Fredrick Lubbersen of the goods delivered by Jan<br />

Jansen of St. Obyn to Jacob Wolphersen, residing here, and left with him to be kept for Jan<br />

Jansen until he shall return here or send an order from Holland, when Jacob Wolphersz shall<br />

restore the goods he now receives:<br />

One large silver goblet 280<br />

One silver bowl, weighing l½ lb<br />

One plated cocoanut with a foot<br />

One hat band with gold tassels; one gold ring<br />

280 kelck; literally, chalice.<br />
