Willit, who sells to Cornelis Teunesz of Gorcum, who also acknowledges the purchase, a lot and<br />

house situated on the island of Manhatans, adjoining the public tavern, 222 for the sum of seven<br />

hundred and seventy-five guilders, payable in three installments, to wit: three hundred guilders<br />

the last of May next; the second payment, also of three hundred guilders, in July 1645; and the<br />

third and last payment of one hundred and seventy-five guilders to be made on the first of<br />

January 1646. For the payment of the above mentioned sum the purchaser specially mortgages<br />

the said house and furthermore all his other property, submitting the same to the control of all<br />

courts and judges. Done in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland, the 2nd of January 1645.<br />

against the master of the ship St. Pieter]<br />

[139a] This day, the 3rd of January 1645, before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New<br />

Netherland, appeared Symon Jansen of Durickerdam, late master of the ship St. Piter, who in the<br />

presence of the subscribing witnesses declared that he appeals from the judgment rendered by the<br />

director general and council of New Netherland against the aforesaid Tymon 223 Jansz or [the]<br />

owners [of] his [vessel] and that to such court or judges in the United Provinces as the owners<br />

shall think proper to carry the case against the honorable West India Company. Thus done and<br />

appealed on the day and year above mentioned. The original hereof is [signed] in the record by<br />

the aforesaid Symon Jansz and [ ] 224<br />
