[Report of referees in a case of dispute between Mr. Moor<br />

and Mr. Wederley, respecting a bark]<br />

[135c] Whereas Captain Jan Onderhil and Isaac Allerton have been authorized by the director and<br />

council of New Netherland to settle and decide, according to the best of their knowledge, the<br />

case of Mr. Moor 214 and Mr. Wederley; therefore, they declare after mature deliberation that they<br />

find it to be [just] that half the bark shall remain Mr. Moor’s, provided he pay here to Mr. Wederley<br />

two hundred and fifty pounds of tobacco, or the value thereof, leaving him, Mr. Wederley, to<br />

settle his affairs with the knight In Virginia, 215 inasmuch as [ ] to bring [<br />

] from England.<br />

In testimony whereof this signed by us, the 26th of November 1644, in Fort Amsterdam in New<br />

Netherland.<br />

request of the Honorable Mr. Willem Kieft, director general of New Netherland, jointly attest, testify<br />
