spring. Participants ages 5-18 will apply the strategies<br />
and techniques of the sport and compete<br />

introduces young people to cross-country training<br />
and character-building concepts to aid in<br />

Youth Tennis<br />
Park and Recreation works with local tennis<br />
professionals to provide lessons and clinics at<br />
eight facilities county-wide. Current program<br />
sites are: Veterans Park, Freedom Park, Park<br />
Road Park, Jeff Adams Tennis Center, Colonel<br />
Francis Beatty Park, Elon Recreation Center, Tom<br />
Sykes Recreation Center and Berewick Recreation<br />

to expose participants to proper mechanics<br />
and advanced techniques, healthy choices, physical<br />

The First Tee of <strong>Charlotte</strong> partners with <strong>Mecklenburg</strong><br />

Youth Boxing<br />
Ages 8-17<br />
The boxing program at Revolution Park Sports<br />
Academy is a joint venture between the <strong>Mecklenburg</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong> Park and Recreation Department<br />
and the <strong>Charlotte</strong> Boxing Academy, a private club<br />
funded by donations. Participants focus on learning<br />
techniques to improve fitness, mental focus<br />

VOLUNTEER TO BE A YOUTH SPORTS COACH!<br />
The <strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> Park and Recreation Department Youth Sports<br />
Leagues rely heavily on the support of volunteer coaches. Anyone who may<br />
be interested in volunteering as a head or assistant coach should contact their<br />
preferred recreation center to begin the application process. Volunteer sports<br />
coaches will receive extensive training in their respective sport. Any parent<br />
choosing to be a volunteer coach will receive a fee waiver for their child.<br />
