Dog Parks<br />
Did you know that <strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> has SIX dog parks?<br />
They offer a place for dogs to run off-leash in a fenced<br />
area and frolic with other canines. Admission is free<br />
and open to all dogs of suitable disposition. Dogs<br />
must have rabies vaccinations and licenses as required<br />
by law. Owners are responsible for their pets. Dog<br />
parks are open every day, 7:30am–sunset (for more<br />
information call 311).<br />
Swaney Point K-9 Park in Ramsey Creek Park, 18441<br />
Nantz Rd., Cornelius, four acres fenced-in. Separate<br />
sections for large dogs (more than 20 lbs) and small<br />
dogs (less than 20 lbs).<br />
Barkingham Park at Reedy Creek Park, 2900 Rocky<br />
River Rd., four acres inside fence.<br />
<strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> Park and Recreation invites “dogs and people they own” to join<br />
the fun again this year at Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Road in Huntersville. Rural Hill has plenty<br />
of easy and FREE parking. Admission is FREE. Enter contests for best costume, best bark,<br />
largest dog, smallest dog, best trick, throw & catch and more. Enjoy exhibits, dog related<br />
products, prize drawings, music, good food and more! All dogs must enter on a leash.<br />
<strong>Charlotte</strong> B-Cycle!<br />
Hello <strong>Charlotte</strong> B-Cycle! Through a<br />
partnership with <strong>Charlotte</strong> Center City<br />
Partners, NC Blue Cross Blue Shield,<br />
Carolinas HealthCare System and the<br />
City of <strong>Charlotte</strong> – there will soon be 200<br />
blue bikes located among 20 bike share<br />
stations all over Uptown, South End and<br />
the Little Sugar Creek Greenway!<br />
Ray’s Fetching Meadow at McAlpine Creek Park, 8711<br />
Monroe Rd., one acre, fenced-in.<br />
Davie Dog Park in William R. Davie Park, 4635 Pineville-<br />
Matthews Rd., more than five acres with separate<br />
sections for large dogs and small dogs.<br />
Frazier Dog Park in Frazier Park, 1201 West 4th St. in<br />
uptown <strong>Charlotte</strong>, 1.3 acres inside fence. Sections for<br />
large and small dogs. Fenced enclosure is along I-77 near<br />
West Trade and Sycamore streets.<br />
Shuffletown Dog Park in Shuffletown Park, 9500<br />
Belhaven Blvd. This new dog park is 4.6 acres with<br />
sections for large and small dogs.<br />
The 2013 Purina Bark in the Park Top Dog Festival is presented by Harris Teeter<br />
The system aims to provide access to<br />
bicycles for short-distance trips in the<br />
Center City and offer an alternative to<br />
motorized public transportation or private<br />
vehicles. The effect: cleaner air, healthier<br />
people and less congestion. Just unlock a<br />
bike from any station and return it to any<br />
station system wide.<br />
