<strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> Park & Recreation Parks, Preserves and Greenways Dog Parks Did you know that <strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> has SIX dog parks? They offer a place for dogs to run off-leash in a fenced area and frolic with other canines. Admission is free and open to all dogs of suitable disposition. Dogs must have rabies vaccinations and licenses as required by law. Owners are responsible for their pets. Dog parks are open every day, 7:30am–sunset (for more information call 311). Swaney Point K-9 Park in Ramsey Creek Park, 18441 Nantz Rd., Cornelius, four acres fenced-in. Separate sections for large dogs (more than 20 lbs) and small dogs (less than 20 lbs). Barkingham Park at Reedy Creek Park, 2900 Rocky River Rd., four acres inside fence. <strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> Park and Recreation invites “dogs and people they own” to join the fun again this year at Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Road in Huntersville. Rural Hill has plenty of easy and FREE parking. Admission is FREE. Enter contests for best costume, best bark, largest dog, smallest dog, best trick, throw & catch and more. Enjoy exhibits, dog related products, prize drawings, music, good food and more! All dogs must enter on a leash. <strong>Charlotte</strong> B-Cycle! Hello <strong>Charlotte</strong> B-Cycle! Through a partnership with <strong>Charlotte</strong> Center City Partners, NC Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carolinas HealthCare System and the City of <strong>Charlotte</strong> – there will soon be 200 blue bikes located among 20 bike share stations all over Uptown, South End and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway! Ray’s Fetching Meadow at McAlpine Creek Park, 8711 Monroe Rd., one acre, fenced-in. Davie Dog Park in William R. Davie Park, 4635 Pineville- Matthews Rd., more than five acres with separate sections for large dogs and small dogs. Frazier Dog Park in Frazier Park, 1201 West 4th St. in uptown <strong>Charlotte</strong>, 1.3 acres inside fence. Sections for large and small dogs. Fenced enclosure is along I-77 near West Trade and Sycamore streets. Shuffletown Dog Park in Shuffletown Park, 9500 Belhaven Blvd. This new dog park is 4.6 acres with sections for large and small dogs. The 2013 Purina Bark in the Park Top Dog Festival is presented by Harris Teeter The system aims to provide access to bicycles for short-distance trips in the Center City and offer an alternative to motorized public transportation or private vehicles. The effect: cleaner air, healthier people and less congestion.
