Cycling and Races<br />
<strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> Park and Recreation partners with many local groups to host<br />
more than 70 races a year. Races consist of trail and road running events as well<br />
as Mountain Bike events.<br />
McAlpine Creek Park, which includes a Nationally Certified Cross Country Course,<br />
serves as the main venue for trail running events including: Wendy’s Invitational,<br />
Footlocker Regional Championships, UNCC 49er Challenge, Queens University<br />
Royal Challenge, NCAA Division II Regionals and over a dozen charity events.<br />
<strong>Mecklenburg</strong> <strong>County</strong> Park and Recreation is also involved with the <strong>Charlotte</strong><br />
Turkey Trot held each year on Thanksgiving morning and the <strong>Charlotte</strong> RaceFest at<br />
South Park. Cycling events include a Winter Mountain Bike Short Track Series and a<br />
Summer Mountain Bike Series.<br />
Mountain Bike events are held at Renaissance Park and Colonel Francis Beatty Park.<br />

NC Community Sailing and Rowing<br />
NC Community Sailing and Rowing operates in partnership with Park and Recreation on<br />
Lake Norman. Their mission is to provide an opportunity for residents of all ages to learn the<br />
