With the backend type 'file backend' the configuration information is kept in text files (ini<br />

file syntax) on the server.<br />

9.1.1. File3.1-Backend (<strong>opsi</strong> 3.1)<br />

Basic features of the backend 'File3.1' :<br />

● current <strong>opsi</strong> default backend<br />

● Linux standard base conform<br />

● not backward compatible with <strong>opsi</strong> 2.x/3.0<br />

● all <strong>opsi</strong> functions are available with this backend<br />

● works only for clients which are run in 'service'-mode (accessing their<br />

configuration files via <strong>opsi</strong> service).<br />

The actual data files are kept in '/var/lib/<strong>opsi</strong>'.<br />

Content and configuration of these files are described in the chapter 10 “Important data<br />

files of the <strong>opsi</strong> depot server”.<br />

9.1.2. File-Backend (<strong>opsi</strong> 3.0)<br />

Basic features of the backend 'File' :<br />

● deprecated and shouldn't be used with new installations<br />

● not Linux standard base conform<br />

● backward compatible to <strong>opsi</strong> 2.x/3.0<br />

● not all of the <strong>opsi</strong> functions are available with this backend.<br />
