14.1. Difference between <strong>opsi</strong> version <strong>3.3.1</strong> and version 3.3<br />

14.1.1. Overview<br />

● support of multiple depot-servers<br />

● The multi-depotshare extension gives you the opportunity of a central<br />

administration for different locations<br />

● At every location an <strong>opsi</strong> depot-server provides the shares and the TFTP/<br />

PXE bootserver functionality, while the administration and the<br />

configuration data backend is still handled by the central <strong>opsi</strong>-server.<br />

● A decentral <strong>opsi</strong> depot-server can be easily installed and integrate with the<br />

central configuration server.<br />

● Up to now, these new functions are only implemented for the 'File31-<br />

Backend'. The new LDAP-Backend is coming soon.<br />

● The multi-depotshare extension is part of the 'Professional Edition'. It is<br />

open source, but for getting support you will need a professional support<br />

contract.<br />

● <strong>opsi</strong>-package-manager: The new package administration tool<br />

● Installs and deinstalls <strong>opsi</strong> packages on one ore more <strong>opsi</strong> depot-servers.<br />
