*HOTFIG patient type classification: P1 = elective / non-medical intervention patients, P2 = patients requiring adjunctive medical intervention,<br />

P3 = critically ill patients. The medical director of the hyperbaric facility has responsibility for patient classification.<br />

HOTFIG also recommends that minimum staffing levels be appropriately determined<br />

based on the following factors: type of chamber, type and number of patients, treatment<br />

parameters, and backup and emergency management resources. Table 11 summarises<br />

HOTFIG recommendations.
