Spark Plugs<br />
To ensure proper engine operation, the<br />
spark plugs must be properly gapped<br />
and free of deposits.<br />
Check-replace interval:<br />
After the first 20 hours, then every<br />
200 hours. (Refer to the mainte-<br />
nance schedule page 77).<br />
Recommended spark plug:<br />
DR7EA (NGK),<br />
X22ESR-U (NIPPON DENSO)<br />
Use only the recommended spark<br />
plugs or equivalent.<br />
-1 Spark plugs which have<br />
an improper heat range may cause<br />
engine damage.<br />
1. Allow the engine to cool. The spark<br />
plugs will be hot if the engine has<br />
been running.<br />
2. Remove the engine cover.<br />

3. Disconnect the spark plug caps<br />
from the spark plugs.<br />
4. Use the wrench and screwdriver<br />
supplied in the tool kit to remove<br />
the spark plugs.<br />
5. Check the spark plugs. Replace the<br />
spark plugs if there is apparent<br />
wear, or if the insulators are<br />
cracked or chipped. Clean the spark<br />
*plugs with a wire brush if they are<br />
to be reused.<br />
10. MAINTENANCE<br />
: 0.024-0.028 in<br />
(0.6-0.7 mm)<br />
6. Measure the plug gaps with a spark<br />
plug gap gauge.<br />
The gaps should be 0.024-0.028 in<br />
(0.6-0.7 mm). Correct as necessary<br />
by carefully bending the side elec-<br />
trode.<br />
