7. Thread the plugs in by hand to pre-<br />

vent cross threading.<br />

8. After the spark plugs are seated,<br />

tighten with a spark plug wrench to<br />

compress the washers.<br />

If installing new spark plugs, tighten i/2<br />

turn after the spark plugs seat to com-<br />

press the washers. If reinstalling used<br />

spark plugs, tighten l/8- l/4 turn after<br />

the spark plugs seat to compress the<br />

washers.<br />

m The spark plugs must be<br />

securely tightened. Aloose spark<br />

plug can become very hot and may<br />

cause engine damage.<br />

Overtightening the spark plugs can<br />

damage the threads.<br />

Minimum requirements<br />

12V-70AH marine cranking battery.<br />

Maintenance interval<br />

Refer to the maintenance schedule<br />

page 78 and your battery manufac-<br />

turer’s instructions for servicing or<br />

recharging information.<br />

Check the battery cables to be sure<br />

they are securely connected to the bat-<br />

tery terminals. lighten if necessary.<br />

If the battery terminals are corroded or<br />

if recharging is necessary, remove the<br />

battery from the boat to clean or<br />

recharge.
