3.1.3 Foraging <strong>and</strong> feeding behaviour<br />

Cyanopica cyanus exhibit a range <strong>of</strong> feeding behaviours <strong>and</strong> feed on different strata. The birds<br />

were observed foraging <strong>and</strong> feeding from ground level to ca. five metres above ground level. The<br />

most commonly utilised plant species were Padus asiatica shrubs (59.2% <strong>of</strong> 152 observations;<br />

Table 3.3), where I observed birds feeding on berries <strong>and</strong> insects, <strong>and</strong> resting or preening. I also<br />
