Miscellaneous L<strong>and</strong> Types<br />
There are seven miscellaneous l<strong>and</strong> types that consist <strong>of</strong> naturally occurring or man-made components <strong>of</strong> the<br />
l<strong>and</strong>scape, <strong>and</strong> are not considered to be ‘soil’ as defined in this <strong>H<strong>and</strong>book</strong>. The seven miscellaneous l<strong>and</strong> types are<br />
as follows:<br />
MLA: Gravel <strong>and</strong> S<strong>and</strong> Pits: consists <strong>of</strong> active <strong>and</strong> inactive areas <strong>of</strong> granular material extraction<br />
sufficiently large enough to be mapped.<br />
MLB: L<strong>and</strong>fill, Cut <strong>and</strong> Fill or Levelled Areas: consists <strong>of</strong> man-made features or areas that have been so<br />
severely modified that the original has been destroyed.<br />
MLC: Bedrock Outcrop: consists <strong>of</strong> exposed bedrock or bedrock areas with less than 10 cm <strong>of</strong> soil on the<br />
rock surface.<br />
MLD: Dykes: these occur along portions <strong>of</strong> the Okanagan <strong>and</strong> Similkameen rivers.<br />
MLE: Dry River Channels: consists <strong>of</strong> gravel bars <strong>and</strong> similar deposits exposed during low water in the<br />
Similkameen <strong>and</strong> Okanagan rivers.<br />
MLF*: Ponds <strong>and</strong> open water.<br />
MLG*: Deep marl deposits.<br />
