widest <strong>on</strong>ly slightly behind <strong>the</strong> middle, oval, <strong>the</strong> sides str<strong>on</strong>gly<br />

rounded, becoming nearly straight basally, <strong>the</strong> general form remind-<br />

ful of <strong>the</strong> preceding secti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> group; ends of <strong>the</strong> basal margin<br />

feebly dentiform, <strong>the</strong> carinule wholly wanting; surface ra<strong>the</strong>r<br />

shining in both sexes, very closely, deeply creased and rugulose,<br />

finely but str<strong>on</strong>gly, sparsely punctate throughout, more coarsely and<br />

irregularly toward <strong>the</strong> suture, <strong>the</strong> inner vestigial costule feeble;<br />

abdomen shining, <strong>the</strong> legs very slender. Length (c?) 18.5 mm.;<br />

width 9.0 mm. New Mexico (Magdalena Mts.), F. H. Snow.<br />

c<strong>on</strong>gruens n. sp.<br />

A Similar in general form to c<strong>on</strong>gruens but much more shining and<br />

more feebly sculptured, <strong>the</strong> sides of <strong>the</strong> elytra becoming almost<br />

straight basally, black, <strong>the</strong> elytra piceous-brown; head ra<strong>the</strong>r<br />

sharply impressed transversely, coarsely, ra<strong>the</strong>r closely punctate,<br />

finely and sparsely so <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> vertex; antennae much l<strong>on</strong>ger than<br />

<strong>the</strong> prothorax, rufo-piceous distally; prothorax as in c<strong>on</strong>gruens,<br />

except that <strong>the</strong> coarsely and sparsely punctured sides are much less<br />

narrowly and more deeply c<strong>on</strong>cavo-explanate and <strong>the</strong> surface<br />

more alutaceous in <strong>the</strong> male, <strong>the</strong> marginal bead very thin and<br />

high; elytra similar in form, more than <strong>on</strong>e-half wider than <strong>the</strong><br />

prothorax but very smooth and evenly c<strong>on</strong>vex throughout <strong>the</strong><br />

width, highly polished, with <strong>the</strong> vestigial costules evident, <strong>the</strong> punctures<br />

very fine and sparse, more evident and unequal suturally,<br />

<strong>the</strong> creases very fine and sparse, <strong>the</strong> humeral carinule very short<br />

and rapidly obsolete though quite evident, <strong>the</strong> sides of <strong>the</strong> base<br />

scarcely at all prominent; abdomen alutaceous, finely creased,<br />

distinctly and ra<strong>the</strong>r closely punctured apically; legs very slender.<br />

Length (cf) 18.5 mm.; width 8.6 mm. Ariz<strong>on</strong>a (locality unrecorded)<br />

lubricus n. subsp.<br />

1 1 Body ra<strong>the</strong>r large and narrow, gradually dilated posteriorly, deep<br />

black throughout; head ra<strong>the</strong>r shining, feebly impressed transversely,<br />

more str<strong>on</strong>gly at <strong>the</strong> sutures, str<strong>on</strong>gly, not closely and ra<strong>the</strong>r un-<br />

evenly punctate; antennae l<strong>on</strong>ger than <strong>the</strong> prothorax even in <strong>the</strong><br />

female; prothorax relatively well developed, nearly <strong>on</strong>e-half wider<br />

than l<strong>on</strong>g, two-thirds as wide as <strong>the</strong> elytra, subparallel, evenly and<br />

somewhat str<strong>on</strong>gly rounded at <strong>the</strong> sides, <strong>the</strong> apical angles but slightly<br />

blunt, <strong>the</strong> basal moderately obtuse, very distinct, <strong>the</strong> basal sinuses<br />

broad and extremely feeble; surface subopaque, moderately c<strong>on</strong>vex,<br />

minutely, sparsely punctulate, ra<strong>the</strong>r abruptly and distinctly<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cavo-explanate and sparsely and str<strong>on</strong>gly punctate laterally,<br />

<strong>the</strong> edge str<strong>on</strong>gly elevated and thin; elytra about three-fifths l<strong>on</strong>ger<br />

than wide, widest but little behind <strong>the</strong> middle, <strong>the</strong> sides str<strong>on</strong>gly<br />

arcuate, becoming str<strong>on</strong>gly c<strong>on</strong>vergent and broadly sinuate basally,<br />

<strong>the</strong> apical lobe small, moderately distinct, <strong>the</strong> humeral carinule<br />

wanting, <strong>the</strong> ends of <strong>the</strong> basal margin feebly dentiform and prominent;<br />

surface str<strong>on</strong>gly shining, broadly flattened or slightly impressed<br />

medially, <strong>the</strong> sutural regi<strong>on</strong> narrowly and feebly tumescent, <strong>the</strong><br />

vestigial costules obsolete, <strong>the</strong> creases feeble and <strong>the</strong> punctures
