versely, ra<strong>the</strong>r finely, not densely and c<strong>on</strong>fidently punctate (9),<br />

A Similar to <strong>the</strong> preceding in form, colorati<strong>on</strong> and sculpture but very<br />
much larger, <strong>the</strong> antennae with more el<strong>on</strong>gate joints though simi-<br />
larly as l<strong>on</strong>g as <strong>the</strong> body (cf ), and with a notably stouter basal<br />
joint; prothorax more broadly rounded at <strong>the</strong> sides and less prominent<br />
behind <strong>the</strong> middle, where however it is likewise widest;<br />
legs differing greatly, l<strong>on</strong>g, with large and very stout femora (cf),<br />
or notably small, with very moderate femora (9); prosternum<br />
finely, closely rugose in <strong>the</strong> former, or finely, remotely punctate<br />
(9). Length (cf,9) 7.0-7.8 mm.; width 2.4-2.6 mm. New<br />

testaceous. Form el<strong>on</strong>gate, rufo-testaceous, with short<br />
sparse pallid pubescence; prothorax slightly shorter than wide,<br />
anteriorly somewhat, posteriorly distinctly, c<strong>on</strong>stricted, <strong>the</strong> sides<br />
rounded, sparsely punctate; elytra dark blue, densely punctate;<br />
abdomen nigrescent; antennae obscure rufous at base. Length 6.3<br />
mm. California (Tej<strong>on</strong>). [Callidium blandum Lee., Proc. Acad.<br />
Phila., 1859, p. 79] blandus Lee.<br />
Legs deep black, <strong>the</strong> tibiae and tarsi feebly picescent. Form narrow, c<strong>on</strong>vex,<br />
str<strong>on</strong>gly shining, deep black throughout, <strong>the</strong> prothorax above<br />
and beneath al<strong>on</strong>e paler and testaceous, <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>on</strong>otum nubilously<br />
bordered with black at apex and base toward <strong>the</strong> middle; pubescence<br />
everywhere extremely short, inc<strong>on</strong>spicuous; head finely but<br />
str<strong>on</strong>gly, not densely punctate, <strong>the</strong> eyes very far from divided, <strong>the</strong><br />
notch <strong>on</strong>ly penetrating two-thirds across; antennae (cf ) moderately<br />
slender, four-fifths as l<strong>on</strong>g as <strong>the</strong> body, blackish, <strong>the</strong> joints feebly<br />
pallescent toward <strong>the</strong>ir bases, <strong>the</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>d a little more than half as<br />
l<strong>on</strong>g as <strong>the</strong> third; prothorax <strong>on</strong>ly very little narrower than <strong>the</strong> elytra,<br />
parallel, with very evenly and str<strong>on</strong>gly arcuate sides, nearly as l<strong>on</strong>g<br />
as wide, <strong>the</strong> base and apex subequal, <strong>the</strong> former scarcely at all c<strong>on</strong>stricted;<br />
surface very c<strong>on</strong>vex, finely, not densely punctate, with an<br />
el<strong>on</strong>gate and smooth, scarcely c<strong>on</strong>vex space at each side of <strong>the</strong> median<br />
line, which is narrowly impunctate basally but not tumid; scutellum<br />
small, nude, polished; elytra much more than twice as l<strong>on</strong>g as wide,<br />
parallel, ra<strong>the</strong>r obtusely rounded at apex, <strong>the</strong> punctures not very<br />
coarse, impressed, separated by about <strong>the</strong>ir own diameters; legs<br />
ra<strong>the</strong>r short, with moderately but very abruptly clavate femora, not<br />
differing much sexually; tarsi very short. Length (cf, 9) 5-3~<br />
