13 Form el<strong>on</strong>gate-oval, more produced and pointed posteriorly than<br />

anteriorly, black throughout, <strong>the</strong> antenna? black with a feeble<br />

piceous tinge; head ra<strong>the</strong>r coarsely, very deeply and densely punctate,<br />

with ra<strong>the</strong>r coarse pubescence which is slightly variegated;<br />

prothorax distinctly less than half as l<strong>on</strong>g as its basal width, <strong>the</strong><br />

str<strong>on</strong>gly c<strong>on</strong>verging sides somewhat swollen and arcuate basally,<br />

compressed anteriorly, <strong>the</strong> punctures minute, deep and very dense,<br />

<strong>the</strong> pubescence l<strong>on</strong>ger than usual, very coarse, black, much variegated<br />

by aggregated lines and patches of fulvous, <strong>the</strong> scutellum with<br />

coarse, dense, almost wholly black hairs; elytra <strong>on</strong>e-half l<strong>on</strong>ger than<br />

wide, parallel, <strong>the</strong> sides feebly arcuate, becoming gradually rounded<br />

and c<strong>on</strong>verging in apical two-fifths, <strong>the</strong> apex ra<strong>the</strong>r narrowly parabolic<br />

and somewhat produced; surface extremely densely opaque,<br />

<strong>the</strong> hairs coarse, black, interspersed plentifully with fulvous, with<br />

a small transverse solid transverse spot of yellow-cinereous hairs<br />

at <strong>the</strong> middle of <strong>the</strong> suture and a small <strong>on</strong>e at each side in nearly<br />

<strong>the</strong> same line, at about lateral third; alternate intervals with denser,<br />

almost wholly black hairs; abdomen str<strong>on</strong>gly and closely but somewhat<br />

finely asperate, <strong>the</strong> metasternum more coarsely, very densely<br />

and rugosely punctate, <strong>the</strong> hairs very short but ra<strong>the</strong>r coarse, well<br />

separated. Length 6.3 mm.; width 3.5 mm. Idaho (Cceur d'Alene),<br />

Form nearly similar but less produced and more evenly rounded behind,<br />

smaller in size, almost similar in colorati<strong>on</strong> and general nature of<br />

<strong>the</strong> variegated vestiture; head small, c<strong>on</strong>vex, very densely punctate;<br />

prothorax nearly as in centralis but less compressed apically and with<br />

less minute and not quite so dense sculpture, <strong>the</strong> vestiture nearly<br />

similar; elytra not more than a third l<strong>on</strong>ger than wide, parallel and<br />

feebly arcuate at <strong>the</strong> sides, <strong>the</strong> latter evenly and more broadly<br />

rounding behind from well behind <strong>the</strong> middle; surface less densely<br />

punctate and slightly shining, <strong>the</strong> vestiture ra<strong>the</strong>r shorter, coarse,<br />

black, with interspersed fulvous hairs, <strong>the</strong> alternate intervals with<br />

shorter black c<strong>on</strong>densati<strong>on</strong>s, <strong>the</strong> fulvous hairs tending to form<br />

several posteriorly arcuate transverse comm<strong>on</strong> bands, <strong>the</strong> solid<br />

yellowish spot at <strong>the</strong> middle of <strong>the</strong> suture transversely rhombiform;<br />

abdomen similarly but less densely asperate. Length 5.3 mm.;<br />

width 3.0 mm. Colorado. (Leavenworth Valley, 10000 to nooo<br />
