Obl<strong>on</strong>g-oval, dark brown in color throughout above and beneath;<br />

head very closely and finely chagrined posteriorly, ra<strong>the</strong>r coarsely<br />

and loosely punctured anteriorly, <strong>the</strong> hairs short, <strong>the</strong> transverse<br />

impressed line and widely separated ocelhe-like spots distinct; prothorax<br />

l<strong>on</strong>g, fully <strong>on</strong>e-half as l<strong>on</strong>g as <strong>the</strong> basal width, <strong>the</strong> str<strong>on</strong>gly<br />

c<strong>on</strong>verging sides nearly straight; punctures fine and close but distinct,<br />

still more minute and very close broadly al<strong>on</strong>g <strong>the</strong> median<br />

line, <strong>the</strong> pubescence short, obscure fulvous, but feebly variegated<br />

with silvery spots; scutellum densely clo<strong>the</strong>d with brownish-black<br />

hairs; elytra parallel, two-fifths l<strong>on</strong>ger than wide, obliquely rounding<br />

at <strong>the</strong> sides in about posterior third, <strong>the</strong> apex not very broad and<br />

transversely rounded; alternate intervals with el<strong>on</strong>gate areas of<br />

denser and more blackish-brown pubescence, <strong>the</strong> anterior broken<br />

silvery band narrowly advanced and truncate at <strong>the</strong> suture; metasternum<br />

coarsely, very densely punctato-rugose. Length Q.o mm.;<br />

Abdominal asperities not so close-set and very feeble, <strong>the</strong> general sculpture<br />

of that part much more inc<strong>on</strong>spicuous than usual 7<br />

7 Body throughout black, <strong>the</strong> legs slightly picescent, <strong>the</strong> tarsi not paler;<br />

body ra<strong>the</strong>r broadly oval; head sculptured nearly as in <strong>the</strong> preceding,<br />

<strong>the</strong> transverse impressed line of <strong>the</strong> vertex very feeble, <strong>the</strong> widely<br />

separated pale spots posterior <strong>the</strong>reto distinct; prothorax more transverse,<br />

much less than half as l<strong>on</strong>g as <strong>the</strong> basal width, <strong>the</strong> str<strong>on</strong>gly c<strong>on</strong>verging<br />

sides somewhat arcuate basally; punctures more minute than<br />

in <strong>the</strong> preceding, close-set but even throughout, not closer al<strong>on</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

middle: pubescence blackish, with a few silvery hairs at some points;<br />

scutellum densely velvety-black; elytra nearly as in <strong>the</strong> preceding,<br />

more el<strong>on</strong>gate and more obtuse behind in <strong>the</strong> male than in <strong>the</strong> female,<br />

<strong>the</strong> pubescence black, not wholly c<strong>on</strong>cealing <strong>the</strong> surface except in<br />

<strong>the</strong> dense el<strong>on</strong>gate patches of <strong>the</strong> alternate intervals, <strong>the</strong> silvery<br />

bands as in <strong>the</strong> preceding; metasternum closely rugose, becoming<br />

not densely punctate posteriorly toward <strong>the</strong> middle; mesosternal<br />

emarginati<strong>on</strong> very broad and shallow. Length (c?) 8.3-8.8 mm.,<br />

A Nearly similar but larger, deep black throughout, <strong>the</strong> legs not at<br />

all and <strong>the</strong> tarsi but slightly paler; head notably larger, similarly<br />

sculptured, except that <strong>the</strong> transverse central line is shorter,<br />

sharper and more arcuate, <strong>the</strong> pale points very small; prothorax<br />

less transverse, almost similarly sculptured, <strong>the</strong> surface medially<br />

becoming more opaque and with <strong>the</strong> punctures a little finer
