Intact. Some m<strong>in</strong>or crack<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Competent but not particularly well f<strong>in</strong>ished; angular<br />

shoulders.<br />

Polychrome pa<strong>in</strong>ted details - weak yellow wash<br />

overall. Tripartite wig pa<strong>in</strong>ted solid black; full eyes,<br />

eyebrows; two very stylised hoes, one without crossbar<br />

(or hoe <strong>and</strong> whip?); no basket. Crude bead collar<br />

<strong>and</strong> outl<strong>in</strong>e <strong>of</strong> h<strong>and</strong>s <strong>in</strong> red pa<strong>in</strong>t. Wears dress <strong>of</strong><br />

daily life - long calf-length kilt with stiffened<br />

triangular apron at front.<br />

S<strong>in</strong>gle column <strong>of</strong> black pa<strong>in</strong>ted text down front,<br />

borders at sides <strong>in</strong> red.<br />

Brick red terracotta.<br />

Legs <strong>and</strong> feet broken <strong>of</strong>f. Mounted on modern wooden st<strong>and</strong>.<br />

Back <strong>and</strong> sides rough <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>-f<strong>in</strong>ished; front only modelled, giv<strong>in</strong>g more<br />

the impression <strong>of</strong> a raised relief.<br />

Light white pa<strong>in</strong>t wash overall. Arms, face <strong>and</strong> mid-chest pa<strong>in</strong>ted brown-red;<br />

wig lappets <strong>and</strong> top pa<strong>in</strong>ted solid black. Full eyes with 'whites' <strong>in</strong> white pa<strong>in</strong>t,<br />

eyebrows. Blue <strong>and</strong> yellow pa<strong>in</strong>ted collar around neck, to front only. Wears a<br />

project<strong>in</strong>g kilt <strong>and</strong> short-sleeved upper garment. H<strong>and</strong>s empty, rest<strong>in</strong>g on<br />

kilt.<br />

S<strong>in</strong>gle column <strong>of</strong> black pa<strong>in</strong>ted text on yellow ground, down front <strong>of</strong> kilt; no<br />

borders.<br />
