<strong>Communist</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a’s <strong>Policy</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Oppression</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>East</strong> <strong>Turkestan</strong><br />

H<br />

itler's concentration<br />

camps and Stal<strong>in</strong>'s gulags<br />

were replaced <strong>in</strong><br />

Ch<strong>in</strong>a by the laogai.<br />

Most <strong>of</strong> the people <strong>in</strong><br />

them were supporters<br />

<strong>of</strong> democracy and<br />

human rights, and<br />

were accused <strong>of</strong> oppos<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the regime. The<br />

aim was to mould<br />

these people <strong>in</strong>to the<br />

shape the communist<br />

regime wanted. To that<br />

end, prisoners are<br />

forced to work 10-16<br />

hours a day <strong>in</strong> the<br />

most terrible conditions,<br />

and were humiliated<br />

and tortured.
