China by the laogai.
Most of the people in
them were supporters
of democracy and
human rights, and
were accused of opposing
the regime. The
aim was to mould
these people into the
shape the communist
regime wanted. To that
end, prisoners are
forced to work 10-16
hours a day in the
most terrible conditions,
and were humiliated
and tortured.
