Fine needle aspiration:
This technique allows aspiration of tissue from the site of interest by
introduction of a needle through a catheter in the endoscope. There are
limited data available on the use of this sampling technique. after
performing a sphincterotomy, a 7-Fr precurved catheter with a retractable
22-gauge needle is advanced through the duodenoscope up to the distal
end of the stricture under fluoroscopy (figure 23A and B) (Howell et al.,
1992).
