If you have <strong>to</strong> spend the weekend in the city, for any reason, do not expect <strong>to</strong> be<br />

invited <strong>to</strong> the client’s home. Yet, if this happens, make the visit strictly social and<br />

avoid talking about your business with the client in front of their spouse and children.<br />

Good manners in an international executive require personal and professional<br />

avoided, as they will tarnish the image the client will have of your company and this<br />

may compromise the sale. Such behaviors include:<br />

- Not replying promptly <strong>to</strong> the client’s e-mails.<br />

- Promising <strong>to</strong> export above production capacity.<br />

- Changing the price after formalizing the Pro Forma Invoice.<br />

- Not sending samples promised.<br />

- Unilaterally changing the agreed forms of payment.<br />

- Imposing an Incoterm that the client will not accept.<br />

- Shipping the merchandise in quantities that are different from those promised.<br />

- Delaying the remittal of necessary documentation.<br />

- Not justifying discrepancies in the documentation.<br />

- Not inviting the client <strong>to</strong> visit your country.<br />

- Criticizing your country or <strong>Brazil</strong>.<br />

- Not meeting occasional changes in the product required by the client.<br />

- Not cooperating in cases of insurance indemnity.<br />

- Insinuating that your risk is not being paid, if the payment is not made through a<br />

letter of credit.<br />

- Insisting on advance payment, alleging lack of trust.<br />

- Saying you will make a credit insurance, suggesting mistrust.<br />

- Criticizing <strong>Brazil</strong>ian cus<strong>to</strong>ms formalities.<br />

- Saying you do not like the Portuguese language.<br />

- Saying that <strong>Brazil</strong>ian capital cities are chaotic.<br />

- Criticizing <strong>Brazil</strong>ian cuisine.<br />

- Showing disproportionate fear about urban violence in <strong>Brazil</strong>.<br />

- Making exaggerated praise of your country, as you compare it <strong>to</strong> <strong>Brazil</strong><br />
