Prize<br />
The 2005 Compton Prize was awarded to Pr<strong>of</strong>. Hennie Snyman (right) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
De partment <strong>of</strong> Animal, Wildlife and Grassland Sciences for <strong>the</strong> best article in<br />
<strong>the</strong> South African Journal <strong>of</strong> Botany. In his article Pr<strong>of</strong>. Snyman focused on<br />
<strong>the</strong> influence <strong>of</strong> fire on <strong>the</strong> dynamics and functioning <strong>of</strong> a grassland ecosystem.<br />

Mr Moeketsi Mosola, CEO <strong>of</strong> Tourism South Africa addressed alumni<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> UFS at a business breakfast sponsored by <strong>the</strong> SABC. Mr<br />
Mosola focused on <strong>the</strong> opportunities related to <strong>the</strong> 2010 FIFA World<br />
Cup in South Africa. He told <strong>the</strong> guests that revenue generated during<br />
<strong>the</strong> four weeks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> event is expected to be around R11-billion.
