From his beginnings as a painter, Louis C. Tiffany<br />

(American, 1848–1933) moved quickly to interior<br />

decoration, creating innovative types <strong>of</strong> glass<br />

with which he “painted” luminous windows and<br />

lampshades. His glorious Magnolias and Irises<br />

window in the <strong>Museum</strong>’s American Wing is the basis<br />

for the pattern <strong>of</strong> this captivating watch. 18K gold<br />

dynasty (1644–1911), Chinese porcelain<br />

reached its peak <strong>of</strong> excellence. Skillful firing<br />

achieved subtle and elegant glazes. Our watch dial<br />

is based on a Qing porcelain dish (1796–1820)<br />

with rich crimson scrolling on a rose-colored enamel<br />

ground. Produced in cooperation with the Victoria<br />

and Albert <strong>Museum</strong>, London. 18K gold overlay with<br />
