EN Safety 2.2. User safety measures The only permitted operator functions: • Use of the LCD control panel and the manual bypass • Switching the UPS system on and off using the control panel (not, however, commissioning) • Operation of additional communications interfaces • SNMP adaptors and their software • Modem/GSM or modem/Ethernet adaptors and their software • Multidrop kit for the parallel switching of the communications information between multiple enclosures The user must observe the safety measures and may perform only described operating commands. The user must also follow the instructions contained in these operating instructions. Any non-observance of or deviation from the instructions can cause danger for the user or even the loss of the load. Danger! The removal of screws or the covers of the UPS system or the battery rack is prohibited. There is danger of electrical shock! Warning Large leakage current: Prior to connecting the UPS system, ensure that the system is earthed! Danger! The user must provide all input switches of the system with warning signs. The maintenance personnel must be warned about dangerous voltages. The control panel must be given the following text: "Before beginning any maintenance work on switches, ensure that the UPS system is insulated." 2.3. Environmental Considerations The UPS must be installed according to the recommendations in this manual. To operate the UPS at peak efficiency, your installation site should meet the environmental parameters outlined in this manual. Excessive amount of dust in the operating environment of the UPS may cause damage or lead to malfunction. The UPS should be always protected from the outside weather and sunshine. If you intend to operate the system at an altitude higher than 1000 meters, contact your local sales or service office for important information about high altitude operation. The operating environment must meet the weight, airflow, size and clearance requirements specified in the technical datasheet. Under no circumstances the UPS should be installed in an airtight room, in the presence of flammable gases, or in an environment exceeding the specification. The basic environmental requirements of the UPS system are: • Ambient Temperature Range: 0 to +40˚C (32 – 104˚F ) • Recommended Operating Range: +20 to +25˚C (68 – 77˚ F) • Maximum Relative Humidity: 95% (non-condensing) The UPS cabinet uses forced air cooling to regulate internal component temperature. Air inlets are in the bottom sides and front of the cabinet, and outlets in the rear of the cabinet. 2.4. Declaration of Safety conformity and CE marking The product has the CE marking in compliance with the following European directives: • Low Voltage Directive: 2006/95/EC • EMC Directive: 2004/108/EC Declaration of conformity with UPS harmonized standards and directives EN 62040-1-1 (Safety) and EN 62040-2 (EMC) are available. Safety Standard: IEC/EN 62040-1-1, IEC/EN 60950-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility Standard (EMC) Performance Standard: IEC/EN 62040-3 2.5. Retention of documents Safety EN 61000-6-4 Prod. standard: EN 62040-2 limit A (C3 UPS) EN 61000-6-2 Prod. standard: EN 62040-2 Criterion A (C2 UPS) EN 61000-4-2 - EN 61000-4-3 - EN 61000-4-4 - EN 61000-4-5 - EN 61000-4-6 These instructions and all associated documents are part of the product. They must be given to the device operator. The device operator shall be responsible for storage of the documents, to ensure that they are readily available when needed. 2.6. Warranty Attention! The UPS may contain batteries that must be re-charged for a minimum of 24 hours every 6 months to prevent deep discharging. Batteries that have been, for whatever reason, deeply discharged are not covered by the warranty. The PMC40 is supplied with a limited warranty that the UPS and its component parts are free from defects in materials for a period of 12 months from the date of original commissioning or 15 months from the date of original delivery, whichever is the sooner. Transportation cost is not included in the warranty and has to be paid by the end-user. Do not return anything without written authorization from Rittal or your closest service centre. Rittal or the closest service centre will then give you further instructions how to proceed. Any product must be returned with transportation charges prepaid and must be accompanied by a description of the failure. Products without description will not be handled. This warranty is invalidated if the UPS is put into use without having been commissioned by Rittal or a fully trained person authorized by Rittal. This warranty does not apply to any damage or losses caused by misuse, abuse, negligence, neglect, unauthorized repair or modification, incorrect installation, inappropriate environment, accident, act of God or inappropriate application. If the UPS fails to conform to the above within the warranty period then Rittal or an authorized service centre will, at its sole option, repair or replace the UPS or parts of it. All repaired or replaced parts will remain the property of Rittal or of the authorized service centre. Rittal is not liable for any costs, such as loss of profits or revenue, loss of equipment, loss of data or software, cost of substitutes, claims by third parties or otherwise. As general policy, Rittal does not recommend the use of any of its products in life support applications where failure or malfunction of the Rittal product can be reasonably expected to cause failure of the life support device or to significantly affect us safety or effectiveness. Rittal does not recommend the use of any of its products in direct patient care.
