Lexus Builds Full Hybrid Monaco Wedding Car<br />
In 2011 Lexus was named ‘Offi cial Supplier to H.S.H. the<br />
Sovereign Prince of Monaco’. Also, confi rming Prince<br />
Albert II’s commitment to more environmentally friendly<br />
solutions, a Lexus full hybrid car was chosen for the<br />
occasion of his marriage to Miss Charlene Wittstock on<br />
Saturday 2 nd July 2011.<br />
His Serene Highness takes a keen interest in encouraging<br />
innovative solutions for environmental protection and<br />
sustainable development around the world. In 2006 he<br />
established the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which<br />
supports more than 150 projects. These range from the<br />
monitoring of environmental evolution to protecting species<br />
endangered by climate change. It also provides assistance<br />
in water management in developing regions. Since His<br />
accession to the throne in 2005, His Serene Highness has<br />
defi ned an ambitious strategic direction for the Principality<br />
in terms of sustainable mobility. He has notably asked his<br />
government to develop policies that clearly focus on mobility<br />
means with lower environmental impact.<br />
Award-Winning Lexus CT 200h<br />
The Lexus CT 200h was named as the ‘Belgian Clean Car<br />
of the Year 2011’ in the fl eet category at the Brussels Motor<br />
Show. The cars nominated in the fl eet category were: Audi<br />
A4 2.0 TDI; Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi Econetic; Lexus CT 200h;<br />
Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 Di-D 2 WD; Nissan Leaf; Peugeot iOn;<br />
Skoda Superb Greenline 1.6 TDI; Volvo V50 1.6D DRIVe; VW<br />
Passat Variant 1.6 TDI Bluemotion. The ‘Belgian Clean Car<br />
of the Year’ is awarded by two leading Belgian automotive<br />
magazines (Le Moniteur Automobile and Fleet) and also by<br />
the Belgian Automobile Club and the Circuit of Zolder. The<br />
jury consisted of specialists in sustainable mobility such<br />
as automotive journalists, an environmental NGO and a<br />
renowned university professor. The award is divided into two<br />
main categories: City and Fleet. This is the fi rst year the prize<br />
has been awarded.<br />
