Test cycle EURO 1 and 2 / ECE R-49 or 13 Mode Cycle<br />

It is a steady-state diesel engine test cycle used for TA emission testing of HD<br />

highway engines up to Euro 2 standards. Effective October 2000, the R49 cycle<br />

was replaced by the ESC cycle.<br />

This cycle is operated through a sequence of 13 speed and load conditions. The<br />

final result is a weighted average of the 13 modes.<br />
