they don’t know they are in a bubble …”<br />

And finally, what about the public?<br />

Without outrage, without protest, little is likely to change,<br />

says ex-banker Nomi Prins:<br />

People should be angry. People should be angry with Wall<br />

Street because there was – when the money was being<br />

made, when the securities were being created – there was a<br />

lot of partying. There was a lot of backslapping. There was a<br />

lot of extraction.<br />

And she believes there will be more to come.<br />

Yet, this financial crisis will not be turned off like a light<br />

switch. Millions are struggling to survive, as conditions get<br />

worse. A recovery for the financial sector does not translate<br />

into a recovery for those who have been hurt the most. Experts<br />

are now floating the idea of a “jobless recovery.” Critical analysis<br />

needs to be offered, heard and seen.<br />

Movements for economic justice need our support and if<br />

we want the government to do the right thing, we’re going to<br />

have to press it to do so, and not just with e-mails. I began this<br />

investigation of wrongdoing and crime on Wall Street with a<br />

hope that others would join. Some have, most have not.<br />

Unfortunately the most accurate coverage has been on the<br />

TV comedy shows.<br />

For starters, we need a full investigation with subpoena<br />

power like the Pecora Commission, which followed the Great<br />

Crash of 1929. We need to know who benefited from one of<br />

the most insidious crimes in history.<br />

How did Wall Street’s wizards engineer this disaster, and<br />

who was complicit with them? Will wrong-doers ever be<br />

shamed, prosecuted or held accountable?<br />

Even as some progress is being reported, even as these<br />

issues are finally getting visibility, experts on the financial sys-
