Displaying and moving to positions<br />

Example: Milling a shoulder by traversing to display value zero<br />

The coordinates are entered as absolute dimensions; the datum is<br />

the workpiece zero point.<br />

Corner 1<br />

X = 0 mm Y = 20 mm<br />

Corner 2<br />

X = 30 mm Y = 20 mm<br />

Corner 3<br />

X = 30 mm Y = 50 mm<br />

Corner 4<br />

X = 60 mm Y = 50 mm<br />

Preparation:<br />

Enter the tool data.<br />

Pre-position the tool to an appropriate location<br />

(such as X = Y = –20 mm).<br />

Move the tool to milling depth.<br />

Operating mode: DISTANCE-TO-GO<br />

Traverse the Y axis until the display value is zero.<br />

The square in the graphic positioning aid is now centered<br />

between the two triangular marks.<br />

Select the X axis.<br />

Nominal position value ?<br />

Enter nominal position value for corner point 2 : X = +30 mm<br />

and<br />

select tool radius compensation R –.<br />

Transfer the nominal position value.<br />

The graphic positioning aid for the X axis appears.<br />

Traverse the X axis until the display value is zero.<br />

The square in the graphic positioning aid is now centered<br />

between the two triangular marks.<br />
