The <strong>BMW</strong> approach to hydrogen is<br />
confirmed<br />
The decarbonized fuel concept developed by<br />
<strong>BMW</strong> has become widely recognized by the<br />
political and business communities. At the<br />
beginning of 2000, the Transport Energy Strategy<br />
(TES) project sponsored by <strong>BMW</strong> and other<br />
automobile manufacturers in conjunction with<br />
the energy industry under the auspices of the<br />
German Federal Ministry of Transportation,<br />
Construction and Housing (BMVBW), showed<br />
very promising results. In an overall assessment<br />
of alternative energy and drive concepts, the<br />
conventional internal combustion engine<br />
powered by hydrogen received very high ratings.<br />
The <strong>BMW</strong> 750hL is the world’s first automobile<br />
to use this type of engine.<br />
According to BMVBW, hydrogen created<br />
from renewable energy sources is the fuel that<br />
best meets long-range criteria in terms of<br />
availability and reduced CO 2 emissions.Thus<br />
