years.
5206. Comfort Lavius, b. 8 Sept., 1815, at Rome. He m. 4 April,
1838, at Cincinnati, 0., Maria Trowbridge, b. 22 Nov., 1812,
in Steuben county, N. Y. They settled at Cincinnati, where
they were living in 1858. They had sis children :
1. Sophronia, b. 1 Sept., 1839, died unm.
2. Leonidas, b. 10 May, 1841, died in childhood.
3. Lockwood, h. 24 Dec, 1844.
4. A7ma, b. 30 Aug., 1848.
5. P/tonefta, b. 24 May, 1853.
6. Challen, b. 24 Jan., 1856.
5267. William H. H., b. 3 Aug., 1817, at Rome. He m. 13 Oct.,
1838, Hester Ann Gardner, daughter of William Gardner
and Rebecca Sisson of Galia county, 0., and d. 16 Oct.,
1853. They had seven children :

5268. Charles i)amarin, b. 8 June, 1820, in Gallia county. He m.
2 March, 1846, Almira Gardner, sister of his brother Wil-
liam's wife. They settled in Gallia county, where they were,
living in 1858. He was a cabinet-maker, and they had four
children :
1. Wesley Dodridge. 2. John E. 3. Charles Millard.
4. William Chase.
5209. De Lafayette, b. 20 June, 1822, d. 13 July, 1822.
5270. Augustus Damarin, b. 7 Sept., 1823, at Gallia county. He
m.^29 June, 1848, Hannah M, Lockwood, b. 17 Jan., 1826,
at Cincinnati, O., daughter of Ezekiel Lockwood and
Minerva Trowbridge. He was a Christian clergyman, and
was author of the Christian Psalmist^ and other musical
works. They were living at Paris, 111., in 1858, and had
five children :
1. James Henry^ b. 1 June, 1849.
2. Minerva Anna, b. 6 July, 1851.
3. George Franklin, b. 31 Dec, 1853.
4. Frederick Augustus, h. 15 May, 1856.
5. Kate Maria, b. 10 May, 1858.
5271. Frances Hartshorn, b. 16 Aug., 1802, at Rome. She m. 11
March, 1821, Josiah A. Cherrington, b. in 1799, in Virginia.
He was a farmer, and they settled in Gallia county,
0., where she d. 5 Dec, 1834. He was living in Minnesota
in 1858. They had twelve children, nine sons and three
daughters ; two of the sons died in infancy, and two at the
ages of 19 and 22 unm. The other five sons were living
with their father in 1858 :
1. Eliza, the eldest daughter, m. Josiah Spencer, and
died at the age of 30 years, leaving two children.
