were born in Swanzey.<br />

He lived some years in Portsmouth <strong>and</strong> the records of that town<br />

mention him as " John Earll, Jr.," <strong>his</strong> father having a brother John<br />

in the same town.<br />

On the 15th of November, 1715, in consideration, as he says, of one<br />

hundred pounds [£100], "paid by my unkle John Earll, of Portsmouth,"<br />

he conveyed to said John [16-6] " all that my l<strong>and</strong> Lying<br />

Eastward of the Eastward Row of cherry trees, which L<strong>and</strong> was<br />

given to me by my father, <strong>Ralph</strong> Earll, by Estimation four acres."<br />

<strong>The</strong> deed is signed, "John Earll, Jr."<br />

He removed to Swanzey before the time of <strong>his</strong> marriage.<br />

<strong>The</strong> children of John <strong>and</strong> Mary (Hicks) <strong>Earle</strong> were :<br />
