SHOWROOM FLOOR MODE
Recently some new units have been in showroom floor mode at the time of
installation.
Showroom floor mode has interior lights & user interface functionality, but no
cooling.
Service diagnostics will not function
To remove from diagnostics mode, press the “Max Cool” and “Cooling On/Off”
button
• Door switch needs to be cycled to save the settings.
Always check for showroom floor mode in no-cool situations where the cause is otherwise
unknown. The unit will not go into diagnostics mode if it is in showroom floor mode.
HOLIDAY MODE
Disables lights, indicators and ice production.
Instruct customer to allow ice door to close before placing unit in Holiday mode.
New BIR SxS models (e.g. KSSCQTS03) have improved Star-K compliance.
Improvement is backwards compatible and includes Main UI (software update) so
that service diagnostics mode works correctly with the new door switch harness
Touch the “Holiday Mode” button to put the unit in or take it out of holiday mode. Ice production is turned off in
holiday mode on the theory that customers will not need more ice while they are away on vacation. However, the
indicators and illumination are turned off for Star-K compliance (Sabbath observance). The holiday mode light
itself will be on, but the idea is that nothing should turn on or turn off due to customer activity (such as opening the
door) during the Sabbath.
There is a current Star-K issue whereby indicators on the ingredient care center (ICC) and the in-door icemaker
(IDI) can come on when both the FC and the RC door are opened at the same time on a side-by-side. One solution
is just simply not to open both doors during the Sabbath if you observe these prohibitions. However, there
will also be a kit coming out that corrects this situation. The kit consists of a door switch harness and a new UI
with update software. A UI with version 29 or greater (see slide 7 for how to get version information) will work
with the new door switch harness. The harness itself corrects the holiday mode issue, but if a UI with earlier version
software is used then the UI display will be off during diagnostics mode.
